I'm going to give Walgreens another try this week. There are some GREAT school supply deals, as well as an Axe deal I need to try.
These deals are primarily from southernsavers.com (with a bit of slickdeals.net mixed in for good measure!)

Week of 07/12/09 - Walgreens Plan
There are some good deals at Wags this week, but I'm not going crazy there anymore. I've got a LOT stockpiled... although we seem to go through toothbrushes like they're going out of style. Between the bad (yet sweet) dog and trips... we've gone through about 2-3 toothbrushes per kid the past 2 months) It's a good thing they were free!
SO... this week is about free (or close to)...
First... toothbrushes! :)
(the following are ideas from Jenny from Southern Savers.com on rolling your register rewards to keep your out of pocket the MINIMUM it can be this week! I'm out of register rewards, so I'm starting from scratch again... will see what I can do with this week's sales!)
Buy:
(3) Reach Toothbrushes
Use:
(1) B1G1 coupon RP 4/26
(2) -$2 off coupons SS 6/14
Total Due: $2
Get Back: $3 RR, you make $1 profit!
(I don't know if I have the B1G1, so my version will be...)
(2) Reach Toothbrushes @ $3
(1) Listerine @ $3
Use
(2) $2 off reach toothbrushes
(1) $2.00 off listerine coupon at listerine.com
Total Due $3 after coupons
Get Back $3 RR... making all the above free... we'll see if I can find the B1G1 Jenny used in my stash!
$3 OOP
$3 RR wyb (3) or more Axe Products at $4 each
Antiperspirant/Deodorant 2.7 or 3 oz.
Body Spray, 4 oz.
-$1.50 off Axe Detailer or Skin Contact Shower Gel, RP 5/17
Total Due $7.50 after coupons
Use $3 RR
Get back $3 RR
$ 4.50 OOP puts me at $7.50 OOP total
$10 RR wyb 2 Coppertone Sun Care products ($11-ish each)
-$5/1 Coppertone NutraShield, printable
use $3 RR
get back $10 RR
$9 due OOP makes total OOP $16.50 total
Not TOO bad for 2 sunscreens, 2 toothbrushes, 1 listerine and 3 Axe Body washes... especially considering that the axe alone would have been around $15 without a sale!

Week of 05/17 - Weekly Wrap-up Walgreens
It was one crazy week at Walgreens. Registers spitting out rewards that we didn't expect, surprise deals left and right!!! A girl could get carried away!! Good thing I didn't figure all this out until late in the week! I think ALL the people in North Fulton will have sparkling white teeth with as much free toothpaste as I'm getting lately (it's going to North Fulton Family Charities).
I really am happy that my learning to save is helping me learn to give more at the same time. When things are financially tight, it's easier to cut back everywhere... including giving. Being able to find stuff that the manufacturers/stores are practically giving away and re-routing it to people who really need it, makes me feel like I'm doing something good... tiny, but good.
SO... learn to use your coupons to help others as well.
ok... here were my bevy of cheap finds of the week. Honestly, most of these are going to the food bank. A few things on the list are for me, but all the toothpaste, deodorant and feminine hygiene products are in the box headed for NFFC.
Thank you to Jenny from Southern Savers who helped me map out my plan and to the savvy shoppers at Slickdeals.net who found the freebie surprise deals like the Right Guard!
Here's the haul...
3 Aveeno Lotions
3 Aveeno Travel/Gift Kits
7 Axe Travel Shampoos (filler that we can use AND donate!)
5 Axe Hairstyling Trial Size Sets (this was a great find! we got 2 movie tickets for buying 5 trial size products that were on clearance!)
5 bayer crystals (charity)
4 Carefree Pantyliners (charity)
9 colgate whitening toothpaste (charity)
4 cottonelle fresh wipes (used my raincheck)
2 degree antiperspirants (for me! these smell GOOD!!!)
3 dry idea (charity)
1 edge shave gel
3 Orbit Gum
2 hawaiian tropic tanning oil - POOL SEASON IS HERE!!! woo hoo!!!!
1 Fingernail Polish
2 Sunday papers
8 Right Guard Extreme - some for charity/some for Thing 1
1 skintimate shave gel
6 Splenda 100 packs - for Mom's house and the office
1 Duncan yo yo (Thing 2 "helped" by finding a filler item)
Total OOP = $73.17
Total Saved = $214.86 75% (plus got 2 movie tickets)
I was overcharged on 2 of my Splendas, but I didn't notice until I got home. She didn't apply the store sale coupon that I'd given her. :( So I paid full price for 2 of the 6. My bottom line would have been about $5 less.
In looking at this list, at first I was like... "OH NO! I spent too much on stuff that's not for me!! BUT the yo-yo, sunscreen and cottonelle were a chunk of what I spent this week. The sunscreen was about $8, the wipes were $8, the splendas $12, and the yo-yo was $4 (all after coupon prices). Had I bought those items alone without the sales and coupons, my OOP would have been $74!!! (and would have only had one sunscreen instead of 2!)
All that said, I didn't do a good job of rolling my register rewards... and my OOP would have been a LOT better if I had. I still have $38 in RR remaining for next week.

Week of 05/17 - Walgreens Plan
Here are my deals for Walgreens this week, courtesy of Jenny from Southernsavers.com and some very savvy shoppers at slickdeals.net

BUT if you can find time to make a stop here and there, you can get some GREAT free stuff!!! It's not for everyone though (as my friend, Kim has let me know), so don't expect to LOVE Walgreens. Week of 5/10 - Walgreens Plan
Better late than never... these are the deals I'm looking at for Walgreens this week.
I'm coming into the week with a LOT of Register Rewards (RR) but they are in small denominations. Because they expire fairly quickly, I'm hoping to roll them over using deals that cost me nothing OOP and extend the life of my RRs. There are a few this week IF I can figure out a way to use the little $2 RRs towards the bigger ticket items ($8 and $6) without too many wasteful fillers.
Here are the deals (for the full scoop see www.southernsavers.com) Most of these come directly from Southern Savers, but I've added a bit here and there from other sites I'm reading now (www.slickdeals.net)
$8 RR wyb Iceland Health Omega 3 Fish Oil $8 – FREE
$2 RR wyb Colgate MaxFresh or MaxWhite toothpaste or toothbrush at $2.99
-.75/1 Colgate Adult or Kids Toothpaste, 4 oz.+, SS 2/22
-$1 off Colgate Max Fresh or Max White Toothpaste, SS 4/26 (makes it FREE after RR)
$6 RR wyb Roots of Nature Hair Care at $6
SoftSheen Carson
One Dollar Off Coupon - printable PDF from manufacturer's website
(scans just fine. I've tried it)
Strengthening Oil Moisturizer
Triple Repair Hairdress
Reconstructing Deep Treatment
(obviously I’m not going to use this one myself, but it’s another item which is free WITH a $1 MM and it can be used for charity. It’s crazy, but I’m doing it!)
Starbucks Frappucino 3 for $5
-$1 off Starbucks Frappucino printable
(makes it .66 cents ea)
Cottonelle Fresh Wipes 42 ct. $1.99 w/in-ad coupon
-$1/2 Cottonelle Fresh Wipes 42 ct, SS 3/29
Reach Prevent Toothbrush or Johnson & Johnson Floss .99¢ w/in-ad coupon
B1G1 Reach Toothbrush up to $3.99, RP 4/26
-$1 off Reach Toothbrush, SS 3/15 (makes it FREE) – CHARITY!!
AXE Body or Hair Care 25% off (body wash was $4.30 ish in store after sale)
Buy 3 AXE products get 1 movie ticket, buy 5 AXE products get 2 movie tickets
-$1 off AXE shower gel or shower tool, RP 4/05
-$1.50 off AXE skin contact shower gel RP 5/17
question is… do I want to pre-pay for 2 movie tickets with axe products? It ends up making the purchase around $15 for 5 items (using the $1.50 off coupons) and gets 2 movie tickets which would be around $15ish depending on the time so it’s break even on the body wash IF I want to pre-pay for a movie. I DO go to the movies, so this isn’t THAT crazy. Will think on it…
Not a GREAT week, but some things that I can give away while at the same time extending the life of my Register Rewards and that makes it a nice week.

Week of 05/03/09 - Walgreens Wrap Up
Walgreens was one of my big-spends this week. There were some good deals on cleaning supplies that I use and had great deals this week, so it was time to stock up. It's hard to PAY for things now... which is silly. PAYING for things is what you DO when you shop!! I just found it hard to adjust my thinking after the last few weeks of practically being given everything. Try as I might, however, I couldn't find a way to get my Swiffers and refills for free.... amongst other things.
I spent more than I would have liked to and was definitely not the smartest about rolling my Register Rewards, but I'm going to concentrate on making plans for that, so that I don't end up with a surplus each week. More on that at the end...
Here is the final tally...
7 - Right Guard Deodorant (Thing 1 is now SET! Anything else that I'd stockpiled goes to charity...he likes this one best and it was FREE!!!!!!!!!)
6 - Pert Plus 3 in 1 Shampoo Body Wash (free... MAYBE this will be the one extra-choosy Thing 1 picks??!! He has made it clear that he does NOT like Axe! Which made Thing 2 happy... no sharing necessary LOL)
3 - Bayer Aspirin (still free this month with RR... a MM if you have the $1 coupon)
5 - Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste ($1 MM with the $1 off coupon)
1 - Immodium (walgreens brand... not on sale)
6- Aveeno Lotions
2- Aveeno Travel Bags (gifts) ALL of the Aveeno items were free after coupons
2 - Swiffer Sweepers (replacing mine. The new one is nicer than the one I got a few years ago)
3 - Swiffer Wet Refills (I wish I would have found coupons for these... but they were still necessary)
10 - Magic Erasers (splitting w/ my sis. These things ROCK! and B1G1 made it the time to stock up... they do dissentigrate pretty quickly.)
2 - Cascade (wish I would have known about the electrosol deal first... oh well!)
2 - Febreeze
3 - Febreeze Noticables/Refills (less expensive than the Bath and Body works ones...but not sure I like them as much. I might have to suck it up and pay extra for that Pumpkin Spice scent! These will work for now.)
3 - Diet 7 up (more stock up for summer parties, etc.) $1 a 12-pack?!! woo hoo!
3 - Sunkist Orange (Thing 1 and Thing 2 have a friend who ALWAYS wants orange soda...now I can say "YES! I have some!!!" This stash is just for him)... and at $1 a 12-pack.... no problemo
9 - Oreos (no lectures please. I love them. They were on sale AND I had a good coupon. They'll last a LONG time.)
7 - Fig Newtons (ditto)
2 - Stouffer Mac and Cheese (Walgreens wouldn't have been my first choice, but we were there and it was dinner-time AND Thing 1 had begged for this as dinner for several days. He finally won)
2 - Bliss Candy Bar (clearance price filler so that I'd have as many items as coupons)
1 - Peeps (12 cent filler.... anybody want a crispy marshmallow chick???) ick!
Total OOP = $95.88 (after using rebate gift cards)
Savings = $274.32 70%
(The cleaning supplies were the bulk of the REAL money spent, but the cookies alone probably would have cost me over $50 without the coupons/sale!! LOL)
Again, these savings don't reflect the RR that I got back. I didn't plan very well as far as rolling them into deals and ended up with WAY more than I started the week with. I'll have to roll them into deals at Publix this week because there are not a lot of great Walgreens deals or things I need there this week. I started the week with $28 RR and ended it with $42. Not great planning. Would have made my OOP MUCH less if I'd planned better!

Week of 05/03 - Walgreens Plan
I'm just getting started with my Walgreens week. I concentrated on CVS at the beginning of the week because it seemed a little more complicated to me for some reason.
Now that I've finished CVS... I'm onto Walgreens!
There are a lot of good deals at Walgreens, but they take a little bit of thought. I'm coming into the week with lots of Register Rewards (RR) from last week's purchases, but I'm not sure if I'll use them at Walgreens or Publix. I'll decide as the week goes by. It might make more sense to use them at Publix since I won't have to worry about having more coupons than items like I will at Walgreens (The coupon rule is that you can't have more coupons than items in a transaction, but there are always things I buy at Publix that don't have coupons. Because of that, it might make more sense just to use them there where I don't have to think too hard!) There ARE a lot of non-coupon-y sales this week that I will probably take advantage of too....
I need cleaning supplies this week and there are some good ones on sale! I just wish there was laundry detergent!!! I need a deal on laundry detergent (luckily Publix has one that starts tomorrow...but that's another post... this is Walgreens!)
There are 2 "money makers" that I know of this week. One for the week is Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste $4.49 with RR of $4.50. I have (4) -$1/1 coupons, which means $4 bonus for me!!
The other is for Bayer Quick Release which is still $2.50 and supposedly is still giving $2.50 RR all month. I believe I still have a couple of the -$1/1 coupons for that, so that will be a money maker too!

I'm starting the week with lots of RRs, but almost all of them are $2 or $2.50 which makes it difficult to use them on transactions where I have lots of coupons. For that reason, I might be rolling a lot of them into Publix instead of this week's Walgreen's deals.

I'll have a little more out-of-pocket than I have in previous weeks, but that's because I'm actually getting things that aren't FREE... some things I really need (swiffer refills, cookies, etc.) Not everything can be free! :)
I came into the week with $28 RR. Spent about $8 of those at Publix. Will see how I end up at the end of this week!

Week of 04/26/09 - Walgreens Wrap Up
I TOLD you I would get carried away with getting FREE stuff this week at Walgreens! I couldn't resist going back (again and again) for the money-makers (Nivea, Ecotrin and Bayer). I love Rembrandt toothpaste, so free Rembrandt was a good thing too (even if I didn't MAKE any money on it.... crazy that I'm thinking I should MAKE money buying something!)
I didn't plan my last purchases as well as I should have. I was in a hurry and didn't plot out how best to roll them from one purchase into another... SO I ended up at the end of the week with LOTS of extra register rewards that I'm going to have to roll into some good deals this next week. There are lots of deals to choose from this week, so I'll be fine.
Here is my final tally. OMG did I get a lot for my $$ (especially considering that a lot of this money was on a gift-card and didn't actually come OUT of pocket at all!)
12 - Bandaids
3 - Axe deodorant minis (these made Thing 2 very very happy... they're trendy)
2 - Axe shampoo
9 - Bayer
2 – caramels (filler)
1 – Cutter bug repellant
8 – Ecotrin aspirin
4 – Nestle Flips Chocolate Covered Pretzels (YUM!!!!!!)
9 – Nivea Body Wash - this stuff smells SO good. I've gifted it to a couple of people already, but the rest is going in my stash!
4 – peeps easter candy (12 cent filler)
11 – Rembrandt toothpaste
1 - snapple tea mix
58.78 oop (doesn’t include remaining RRs)
$255.08 savings = 81%
(28.50 RR remaining AND got a coupon for 2 free movie tickets)

Week of 4/26 - Walgreens Plan!
My oh my...
this is the type of week at Walgreens that I can get a little obsessed with.... FREE stuff!!!!
Register Rewards (RR) are a really addictive thing for me. ESPECIALLY when it's one where you buy an item and the register kicks out a coupon for the same amount that you just bought the item for... making it FREE!!!!!!! Of course, it's in the form of a coupon which you would use at Walgreens to buy something else... BUT there is always something else I NEED... like milk, or a newspaper OR, as is the case with my Publix... regular groceries! Publix will take my Walgreens register rewards since they are actually a form of a manufacturer coupon and Publix gets reimbursed for that. YAY Publix and YAY Walgreens!!!!! (and YAY that they are right across the street from each other!!)
SO... here are the freebies this week (items that you get RR equal to the cost of the item).
There are 4-5 of those this week. And 3 of them are even MONEY MAKERS!!!!! (A money maker is when you actually end up making money in the transaction.)
The first 2, I'm not doing. I don't have the coupons and don't need the items, so I'm skipping them.... but someone else might want this info, so I'm listing it anyways.
$5 RR wyb Bayer Breeze 2 or Contour Meter at $14.99
-$30 off Bayer Breeze2 or Contour Meter, SS 3/22 or RP 10/26/08, 2/01 (make $5 profit)
This would be a SWEET money-maker (info on this below) if I had the coupon. An example of why keeping every coupon is important! I didn't think I'd have any reason to keep this OR to use the item... but it's something that could be donated to people who need it, so I really should have kept the coupon (and might still get and donate, even if it's not a money-maker... I'll see how the time-schedule goes this week)
Money Maker - So... how do you make money buying something??? (some of you who are non-coupon-y folks might not know, so I'm explaining it. Skip this if you know). You're paying $0 in this transaction because you have a coupon for the item making it free AND you're getting back a coupon for $5 off your next purchase. Voila! $5 profit.
$5.99 RR when you buy (wyb) Rembrandt toothpaste 2.6 -3.2 oz or mouthwash 16 oz at $5.99
I don't have a coupon for this one... but it's FREE after the RR and I love good whitening toothpaste. I've used Rembrandt before and it's great stuff. I haven't been able to afford the whitening toothpaste from Brite Smile that I was using in the past... so this is going to be my substitute.
$2.49 RR wyb Bayer quick release crystals 4pk at $2.49
-$1 off Bayer Aspirin Product, 24ct+ SS 3/22 (make $1 profit)
I only have one of these coupons... I TOSSED the others thinking "oh, I never use Bayer!" THIS is why I should always save coupons for everything... even if I don't use them!!!
UPDATE!!! They had a little stack of $1 off Bayer Quick Release Crystals RIGHT ON TOP of the product at my Walgreens yesterday! WOO HOO!!!! They were made of card-stock... not on a tear-pad... just laying there. Weird! (but good!)
$2.00 RR wyb Ecotrin Aspirin at $2.00
There is a printable coupon out there for Ecotrin, but it's for 2.25. It doesn't specify a certain size, so you MIGHT be able to use it on this.... or it might make your cashier get flustered. Your call.
$4.99 RR wyb Nivea body wash 16.9 oz at $4.99
-$1 off Nivea Body Wash, RP 4/19 OR pick up $1 off coupon in display at CVS - a little booklet that has 2 coupons... one for $1 off one and another for $3 off of 2. It's a booklet and kind of hidden in a slot in the display... took me a minute to figure it out, BUT it's a money-maker coupon and maybe a $3/2 coupon to use another week too. Worth the hunt. Some people have a "tear-pad" in front of their Nivea with the coupons... a little more straight-forward. Hopefully yours is easy to find!
The $1 is the only one that will work for this deal. With a $1 off coupon, you make $1 profit!!!! (thank you Honey at SouthernSavers!)
The other great deal I'm taking advantage of, even though it's not a freebie is
$4 RR wyb $10 of Bandaid ($3)/Benadryl ($3) or Neosporin ($4) products.
At first I didn't even look at this deal, but another reader, Cristina at SouthernSavers.com left a comment telling about a GREAT coupon that's available at Publix. It takes making a stop at Publix (no biggie for me), but there is a $3 off any 2 Johnson and Johnson products. That includes Bandaids!! Which makes this deal SWEET in that you get 4 boxes of bandaids for $12 then subtract the $6 in coupons and $4 RR... that makes it $2 for 4 boxes of bandaids!!! It's almost summer and we tend to go through a lot of bandaids during those months.
So now it's just a matter of figuring out what order to do these deals in, so as to not pay much out of pocket intially (even though I'll have the money back at the end of the transaction... the less I have to put out initially, the better)
So far I have done this...
Transaction 1
Bought Rembrandt $5.99
$5.99 OOP (used $3 RR from a prior week and Gift Card from March rebates to pay this) and got $6 RR back.
Transaction 2
Bought 4 boxes of bandaids at $3 each = $12.00
Bought 1 clearance easter candy (peeps) 12 cents. Total $12.12
Used 2 - $3 off J&J coupons (see above) and $6 RR from Transaction 1 = 12 cents plus tax OOP
(used GC from March) got $4 RR back
Transaction 3
Bought Nivea Body Wash at $4.99
Bought 1 clearance easter candy (peeps) 12 cents. Total $5.11
Used 1 - $1 off Nivea coupon (see above) and $4 from Transaction 2 = 11 cents plus tax OOP
(used GC) got $5 RR back
I actually did all 3 transactions one after another. I am a little more comfortable doing this now... especially since I'm getting to know the cashiers at my store. I just tell them in advance that I have 3 different transactions. I have everything organized ahead of time and separate my coupons so that it goes quick and easily (see below for some tips on this)
If you are new to Walgreens RR, there are a few hurdles you have to jump through to get the deals. Jenny explains this in great detail at her site SouthernSavers.com Guide to Walgreens
but the quickie info is this...
1. You can't use RR from a manufacturer on the same manufacturer's products. This is what would prohibit you from taking the Nivea reward and going back and buying another Nivea Body wash immediately. The coupon that prints has "Retailer" Beiersdorf" in fine print under the word Walgreens above the bar-code is for Nivea. SO... you can't use this on ANY products that they make (for instance Nivea lotion would be a no-go... or using a Listerine RR on any Listerine product. Make sense?)... the register won't take the coupon....AND if you bought another Nivea body-wash with it... it wouldn't print out another RR.... so that would be a waste!!! Use a RR from one manufacturer on ANOTHER manufacturer's product that has a RR and you're being a smart shopper!!
2. You can't have more coupons than you have items. This includes RRs. This is why I had to buy the peeps in the above scenarios. Even if my total had been more than $4 in the Nivea transaction... if I only had one item... I could only use 1 coupon and would lose out on the money-making deal. SO... buy something tiny like a piece of candy and the register will be happy and you'll have smooth sailing! (In the band-aid deal above, I didn't have to buy an extra item because I only used 3 coupons/RRs and had 4 items).
3. Every Walgreens seems to be a bit different in how many RRs they will let you use per transaction. The ones here in Atlanta that I have gone to will let me use 2 RRs to pay for something (for instance... I might do the Bayer asprin deal ($2.50) and the Ecotrin deal ($2.00) and use them both towards the Rembrandt purchase. I just learned that you CAN'T use 2 of the same RRs on the same transaction... so I couldn't have used 2 of the $2.50 RRs from Bayer. Does this make sense?)
4. There is a certain order of giving coupons that works best. It doesn't really apply to my transactions above because there are no "store coupons" from a sale ad included. You can use both a store coupon AND a manufacturer's coupon together BUT it's a bit trickier. Again, you have to have at least the same # of items as coupons AND you should present them in the following order: RRs, Manufacturers coupons and THEN walgreens in-ad/store coupons. Do it this way and the register won't beep and reject any of them. When I have a deal like this, I hand them the RR and the manufacturers coupons and let them enter them THEN hand them the store coupon. Because all my coupons are valid and I'm playing by the rules, everything is hunky dory. woo hoo!!!!!
5. Be nice to your cashier. Be patient with your cashier. And try to go when things aren't busy so that other customers aren't ticked off (because they take it out on the cashier NOT you). I am getting to know the girls that work at the Walgreens I go to and always make sure to ask how their weekend went... This goes a LONG way. My transactions take a little more time, so I want to make sure they're happy to see me rather than rolling their eyes at the crazy coupon lady who comes in 3 times a week!
SO... how to best "rinse and repeat" my deals above this week...that is my next challenge. I'd like to pay as little out of pocket as possible, so I'm trying to figure out how to do this in the best order. I'm not really sure if I'm going to do the Bayer deal more than once. I really don't use that (but I am thinking about the fact that I could donate it). I also don't need a lot of bandaids, and that one isn't free or a money-maker, so I won't be repeating it more than twice. It's a good deal only if you NEED the items (or they're free)!
But free body-wash... free toothpaste... those I'll be repeating as many times as I can find a way to this week. If I have left over RRs at the end of the week... I'll take them to Publix and use for my groceries. Lucky for me, my Publix takes them. I've heard of others that don't.
SO... I'll let you know the results on Sunday or Monday. I just wanted to share ahead of time what I'm planning in case it helps someone else!
this is the type of week at Walgreens that I can get a little obsessed with....
Voila! $5 profit.
$2 RR wyb Ecotrin 45 ct tablets at $2
-$2.25 off Ecotrin product, printable (make $2 profit)

Week of 4/12 - Wrap Up
It was not a big grocery week AT ALL because I'd done such great stocking-up the prior weeks. The sale at Publix extended through this Wednesday, so there are a few buy-one/get-one things that I want to pick up before it's over, but for the most part, we were set for this week.
We did eat out twice due to much pleading by 2 kids that had to take standardized tests last week (a big big deal if you don't have kids in the Georgia school system... they scare these poor kids to death about the tests... but I digress) ANYWAYS, we went out for pizza the night before the test because that's what my 2 hard-working boys wanted. :)
My only shopping excursions last week were at Walgreens and Publix.
Publix
4 - Fresh Express bagged lettuce ($2.50 each w/ $1 off each coupon) = $6
1/2 lb - Boar's Head deli turkey = $4.50 ish
1/2 lb - Publix deli ham = $3.50ish
1 - Publix Bleach .01 (penny item of the week)
Estimated Total $14.01
33% savings (this is an estimate, but probably pretty close)
that was it. Told you.... nothing too exciting. I don't even have my receipt with me, so I can't tell you how much I saved.... but the ham and turkey were not on sale.... only the Penny Bleach and the Fresh Express, which was on sale AND had a Publix in-ad coupon.
Wallgreens
Wallgreens was a completely different story. I saved a TON at Wallgreens this week, but only on a couple items.
A week ago Saturday I was in Wallgreens picking up some things from that week's sale and I saw that they already had items from this past week's sale posted. I had planned to buy pony-tail holders (something I LOSE a lot of... how, I have no clue, but I go through a lot of them!) on sale last week, but saw that the Register Rewards bonus sign was already posted. The sale was if you spent $2 on the pony-tail holders, you got a $2 Register Reward back... making them free (as long as you plan a future purchase at Wallgreens.)
WELL... this time they were TOTALLY free! Here's what happened. I asked the girl working in the cosmetics department (this was my regular Wallgreens, so I'm slowly getting to know all the cashiers there...which is a good thing!) if the sale had already started and if the computers were already printing the Register Rewards even though it was Saturday and the sale didn't start till Sunday.
She called the manager over to ask and the manger asked what I was planning to buy. I said "pony-tail holders that have a $2 Register Reward, but I can wait to buy them next week if they're not printing up yet". She said "how much is the Register Reward?" and I said "$2" she then asked me how many I was planning to buy I said that i'd probably purchase 2 in 2 different transactions.... "but it's not a big deal, I can wait till next week." She said "no, let me just ring them in... ok... here you go... they're free!" I was stunned. I KNOW this was not normal. I should have at LEAST had to pay sales-tax.... but I was happy to get some free pony-tail holders!!!
SO... this week's Wallgreens deal went like this....
2 - Scunci Pony Tail Holder (28 count)
Total Out of Pocket $0 (value of items $5)
Total Savings 100%
I have a little more shopping to do this week than I did last week. I still need to get a lot of fresh ingredients, similar to the salad fixings I had last week. I need more fruits/veggies/deli stuff this week, so I'm not expecting huge savings... but hoping for a few freebies!!!
I'll try to post my plan later after I've formulated it!

Week of 04/09 - Wallgreens Wrap Up
It was a weird week for me at Wallgreens... I spent more than I should have because of Easter.
(I did that at Target too... that was a total NON saving event that we won't even go into here! I guess that's why I needed to save at some of these other places!)
Here's the low-down....
Wallgreens

Here's the low-down....

1 - Soft Soap Body Wash (free from last week's coupon)
1 - Betty Crocker Frosting
5 - 12 packs of Coca-Cola (no Big K for us for the next 2 months!!!!)
Total Out of Pocket - $22.40
Savings (including $5 rebate) $25.49 = 54%

Week of 3/29 - Wallgreens Wrap Up
I'm still getting the hang of the Wallgreens Register Rewards thing. I think it's a bit of a pain because you have to make multiple purchases, BUT CVS limits how many times you can get a sale price by tracking your Extra Care card... Wallgreens doesn't. So you can get the sale as many times as you like... as long as you're willing to go BACK to Wallgreens multiple times.
Here's what I found this week... and it was nothing stellar, so don't get your hopes up. :)
2 – Nestle Easter Eggs
5 – Soft Soap Body Wash
2 – Pringles
2 – Quaker Granola Bars
2 – Cottonelle Fresh Wipes
1 – Bic Disposable
1 – Chapstick
1 – Halls Cough Drops
4 – Cottonelle 4 packs
Paid $17.25 OOP
Savings of $52.69 after sales and coupons – 76%
I think it's important to note that I needed to buy the Cottonelle items and Easter Basket fillers. Those alone would have cost me $22.00. CRAZY!
